FUNCTIONAL NEUROLOGY

Functional Neurology is not a chiropractic technique, rather it is a systematic process of analysis that assesses the entire nervous system to locate dysfunction. This analysis can be added to any different chiropractic technique in order to make treatments more specific and impactful.

As chiropractors, we like to say that chiropractic is both a science and an art. The art comes from the individual integration of different techniques/modalities, and the individual choices of the doctor. Functional Neurology is the science behind the art that utilizes the latest neuroscience research to determine how chiropractic adjustments directly affect and change the brain.

Contrary to long held beliefs, our brains are capable of change for our entire lives. Neuroplasticity is the term given to the amazing capability of our brains to keep learning and adapting. Chiropractic harnesses this concept of neuroplasticity and induces positive change into the brain and nervous system in both adults and children. The concept of neuroplasticity is a concept of use it or lose it. Therefore, continually reinforcing these positive patterns with a chiropractic adjustment maximizes neural plasticity.

Dr. Gabrielle & Dr. Jackson both utilize functional neurology in their assessment and treatment of patients. Their care plans include neurologically based rehab strategies aimed to promote new connections and illicit positive changes in the brain. This approach allows them to better care for patients and to be able to specifically and thoughtfully address nervous system interference in all patients.
